Smells like Christmas!

I can't find my camera battery charger (for 3 weeks now...) and my camera just died on me. I really don't know where it could be and I almost asked Siri:

me: "Where is my camera battery charger?"
Siri: "I am not sure, but you can buy a new one on ebay."

I know it's a little too soon to be preparing for Christmas, but I wanted to make the star anise, dried oranges and bundle of cinnamon sticks for my potpourri collection. Merry Christmas!

Autumn Squash

I can't believe summer is almost over! I guess this means cooler weather, delicious feasts and more pounds :)

I made some autumn squash and pumpkins. I still have another batch to put in the oven...guess I'll have to make a farmer's market stall with all of this!

Cheese Display

Although my italian store still needs some finishing touches, one thing for sure is that it has enough cheese in stock!
My favorite is the mozzarella....so simple yet so delicious.

If you are a store owner and need more cheese, you know who to call :)

Brownies

I baked some brownies, and to make them (look) healthier, I added some nuts. I've actually been craving for some honey roasted peanuts for the past week (the ones they give out on the airplane)- maybe that's why I added the nuts...

Quarter Scale

I had a couple quarter scale requests this past week, and they were so *teeny-tiny* that I wanted to share with you.

My camera couldn't even focus on the little one.

I think quarter scale is the most fun to make and take pictures with, but beware....your eyes!!

Pom poms!

I was so busy watching the olympics that I once again, abandoned my blog and minis... But I did get myself to make some pomegranates today.

Boy did it take forever to make the halved one!

Mini people

I'm back from my vacation! I visited my parents house and while I was there, I took some photos of the mini people my dad used to collect. He used to buy several sets every time he went on a business trip to Hong Kong, and sometimes he would buy the same set (of course, not remembering what we already had!). I used to love looking at them, and I hope you enjoy them too!

Summer BBQ

Thank you everyone for the lighting tips! Hopefully I will have all the lights up in my shop after my summer vacation. Speaking of summer vacation, a lot of my customers have been wanting meats to grill for their summer bbq party! :)

Have a great summer and I'll be back in July!

Italian Shop

I think I'm almost done with the inside of the shop. I just need to add a cash register, lighting, and some cannolis to the dessert section.

I can't wait to finalize the setting and glue it in place. Hopefully that will make it easier to take it to my next miniature show.

This is what my shop looks with the roofing.

A question to all the miniature experts out there: How do I light up a shop this big? I am hoping to use some battery operated lighting that I can just glue to the top. Any ideas?

Pumpkin Pie

I know it's a bit too early for pumpkin pie, but I had nothing else to post about :)

I guess I want to skip summer and look forward to the cooler weather in the fall.

Meat and Cheese

I have been getting some mails about the meat and cheeses in my new deli shop, so I've made it available in my etsy shop.

I've been getting lazy these past few days, so I believe that I won't be touching the italian shop for another few months :)

Fruits and Desserts

I finally made some progress on the "other" side of the shop. I made a veggie/fruit stall and displayed chocolate and pasta on the top shelves.
I also added some vintage posters to the walls.

I still need to make cannolis and add a cash register...but who knows when I'll get to that!

Olive Bar

I made an antipasto bar in my italian shop (more like an olive bar). The clay was very mushy becuase of the warm weather and I'm just glad that I'm done making little olive beads :)
The one on the bottom is a plate of pepperoncini.

I was supposed to make 2 more plates so I could fill the whole display case, but couldn't really think of other antipastos. Maybe sun-dried tomatoes?

Have a great week everyone!

June Goodies

In June (6/1-6/26), I will be holding a small promotion- with a purchase of $20 or more in my etsy or ebay shop, I will be giving out these band-aid and neosporin boxes. I believe mini people get cuts and burns every once in a while :) I usually have a box in my kitchen pantry (the kitchen is the most dangerous place).

I also wanted to share a feature Julie did on her blog : http://www.etsystalkers.com It's always exciting to read what other people think of my works! Her blog features other amazing etsy shops so definitely check it out!

More cheese...

Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I have 2 windows, so I will be displaying cheese and meat in one, and bread, fruits and desserts in the other.
I still need to make mortadella to add to my meats. Has anyone tried it? I always get the italian sub without it since the color doesn't seem too appetizing...

I also hung some chorizo near the window display. (The shelf on the back looks awfully short! I will have to stack it up with more cheese.)

These are some grapes I made to display in my 2nd window, but look how the colors turned out. The two in the back are from my first batch and the color is very fake compared to the one in the front. So sad!!

Please help me choose my store name. I am thinking of "Geppetto's" or "Figaro's"- which one do you like better?

Italian Deli shop progress...

I have had some progress on my shop after reading many supportive comments! I made a cheese shelf and a ham "hanger" shelf, and also made some italian meats while I was MIA from blogland. Here are some pictures:

prosciutto, salami, capicola, chorizo and a garlic braid

The pictures are horrible- the lighting and the shelves creates so many ugly shadows :(

I am wondering what to display in the display windows.......any suggestions?

Cheese!

Thank God it's almost Friday! So excited for the weekend :) I made some cheese for my italian store (bakery shop turned into a donut shop and now it will become an italian store....for now at least). I wanted to show you how big it is:
I am hoping to fill it up with cheese, ham and some fruits.

Lemon Meringue Pie

When life gives you lemons, make meringue pie....

now I want some real pie!

Oyster platter and plants

I made a new oyster platter (this time everything is attached) to bring to my parents. The orange in the middle is the cocktail sauce on an empty shell (saw them do this at a restaurant!).

I also made other kind of plants to display in my new shop (which I still cannot make up my mind-donut? bakery? candy?).

Have a great weekend!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Although it's been 2 days, I hope everyone who celebrates the holiday had a blast!

molcajete (volcanic rock) with guacamole

I also wanted to share a photo of this miniature dollhouse cake I made for Louisa from the Little Big Company. She had a dollhouse themed birthday party and it was even featured in Amy Atlas Events! Her work is amazing and her blog is a birthday party itself :)
